On the evening of May 13, 2024, Gulfport police responded to gunfire at a residence in the 800 block of 27th Street and found 18-year-old Temi Elijah Juan Lawal dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. A second victim, 21-year-old Lorenzo Stennis of Pascagoula, was critically wounded and later died at a hospital. Initial investigation indicated the shooting followed a violent altercation.

Police say Lawal and Stennis, accompanied by a third person, had targeted the home for an armed robbery. The homeowners used lethal force in what investigators described as self-defense; authorities did not file charges against the homeowners. Investigators then focused on the surviving accomplice, identified as 17-year-old Lawrence Corley IV of Gautier, who was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder under Mississippi’s felony-murder principles. Bond was set at $2 million at his first court appearance.

Does anyone have information about the events that led up to the May 13 shooting or knew any of the men involved?
