Fernanda Marie Gomez, 34, was fatally shot on Jefferson Street in Jackson, Mississippi, on April 25, 2024. The shooting happened at about 11:15 p.m.; Mississippi Capitol Police officers found Gomez at the scene and the Hinds County coroner later identified her.

Officials have not released details about what led to the shooting. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety says the death is under active investigation; no arrests, suspects, or persons of interest have been publicly named.
