A domestic dispute inside a Laurel convenience store on Ellisville Boulevard ended in the fatal shooting of 54-year-old Terry Merrill on March 21, 2024. Merrill, an African American man, was shot in the chest outside Scott and Pops Store and later died at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Laurel Police arrested 36-year-old Nicole Weems later that night on Poplar Drive at King Street; she was charged with murder. A second person, 59-year-old Drexem Brown, was arrested that evening and charged with accessory after the fact. The investigation into what happened during the dispute is ongoing.
If anyone was in or near Scott and Pops Store that night or has information about the dispute that led to Merrill’s death, please come forward.
