On the evening of February 15, 2024, 22-year-old Ibn Burnett was one of two young men shot dead in Drew, Mississippi. The shootings took place around 5:50 p.m. on Broadway Street, where police found two male victims with multiple gunshot wounds—one in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and the other lying in the street. Burnett was described as a soft-spoken young man who worked at a Walmart in nearby Cleveland and was training to become a barber, hoping to follow his late father’s trade.

Burnett’s family had suffered violence before: his father, Christopher Zeke Burnett, was murdered in Drew in February 2013. After the double homicide on February 15, the Drew Police Department arrested two local women. Tacquiera Turner, 21, surrendered shortly after the incident. Miracle Miller, 20, was later arrested and charged with murder; police alleged she was the driver during the shooting and described the motive as a possible crime of passion. Both victims and the accused were graduates of Thomas Edwards Senior High School in Ruleville, and the families were known to each other.

Does anyone who knew Ibn or the community around Drew have information that could shed light on what happened that evening?
