On the evening of January 5, 2024, 34-year-old Shaterica Queshun Bell was fatally shot inside her apartment on Kirby Road in Robinsonville, Mississippi. Tunica County deputies were called after a child went to a neighbor’s home saying their mother had been shot. Deputies heard additional gunfire inside; two of Bell’s children were found outside, and four children in total were present at the apartment that night.

Officers learned Bell, her newborn, and a male suspect remained inside. Deputies negotiated by phone with the suspect, who emerged around 10:35 p.m. and was taken into custody. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Donald Demario Patrick of Tunica, was Bell’s boyfriend and the newborn’s father and told deputies he had shot Bell. Deputies found Bell with an apparent gunshot wound; the Tunica County Coroner pronounced her dead. The newborn was unharmed.

Patrick was held at the Tunica County Detention Center and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated domestic violence, two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen weapon, with bond set at $425,000. The investigation remains active.

If anyone saw or heard anything related to the incident on January 5 near Kirby Road, please share information with investigators.
