On the night of Friday, November 10, 2023, 24-year-old Deshun Montarrio Isabell, a Black male, was one of three people found shot inside a vehicle that had veered off Casino Center Drive in Robinsonville, Mississippi and struck a pole. Initial calls to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office reported a car fire around 9:24 p.m., but deputies found the vehicle riddled with bullet holes; the occupants had been shot before the crash. Isabell and two companions, Steven Dewayne Burts, 23, and Tednequa Tenice Moore, 25, were taken to the Mississippi Crime Lab for autopsies to determine cause of death.
Investigators from the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Highway Patrol and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation pursued the case. On November 22, 2023, 18-year-old Deonte Carnell Taylor of Tunica was arrested and charged with three counts of capital murder, four counts of shooting into a motor vehicle, and four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime. On April 12, 2024, 20-year-old Anthony Carter Jr., also known as A.J., was arrested and charged in connection with the deaths and additional related counts; he was in custody on a separate attempted murder case at the time. The investigation remains active.
If anyone knew Deshun, his movements that night, or has information about the shootings, please come forward.
