A fatal domestic dispute in Gaffney ended with a man dead on November 8, 2024. Nigel Phillips, 37, was found inside a 3rd Avenue residence about 11:37 a.m. after deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later identified by the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office; an autopsy was ordered.

Authorities say the shooting began after an argument between Phillips and another man, and that the other man fled the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has been interviewing witnesses and continues to investigate; no arrests have been announced.
