On October 7, 2024, a barrage of gunfire struck a green mobile home on Bunneau Street in Sumter, South Carolina, about 1:45 a.m. Deputies found the residence peppered with more than two dozen bullet holes; investigators later estimated roughly 28 rounds were fired. Nine-year-old Gregory Robinson Jr., known as Doodle, was lying in his bed when he was struck. He was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries on October 9, 2024.

Gregory was a fourth-grade student at High Hills Elementary and played quarterback and running back for Gator Elite Sports, where his coach remembered him as a leader who had just scored his first touchdown the previous Saturday. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Sumter Police Department, formed a task force to investigate. As of early 2025 the case was unsolved, no arrests had been announced, and a $10,000 reward was being offered. Gregory’s mother, Sanobina McClam, has urged anyone with information to come forward.

If anyone knew Gregory, witnessed gunfire on Bunneau Street that morning, or has information that could help identify those responsible, please share what is known with investigators.
