Katie Sullivan, 38, was found dead from gunshot wounds in her Goose Creek, South Carolina, home after Berkeley County deputies responded to a neighbor’s report of a domestic disturbance and gunshots on a Tuesday in September 2024. Deputies discovered signs of a struggle and, after entering the residence, located Sullivan and pronounced her dead at the scene. The coroner and the Sheriff’s Office are investigating her death as a homicide.

Also found at the home was 31-year-old Michael Scott Vasko with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigation identifies Sullivan as the victim and Vasko as the suspected shooter, with criminal charges pending. Sullivan’s obituary notes she was a victim of domestic violence; she grew up in the Northeast, graduated high school in Amesbury, and worked as a hairstylist before becoming a dental technician.
