Jaiden Antwone Smalls was 13 and a student at Myrtle Beach Middle School when he was shot dead inside his family home on Terrace View Court in the early hours of September 1, 2024. Described as having a quick smile, a sense of humor and a caring spirit, Jaiden was known to friends and family as Juicey J.

Horry County Police say the shooting involved juvenile residents of the same household. Arrest warrants allege Jaiden’s brother, Erik Smalls, who was a juvenile at the time, shot him in the face with a Glock 17 9mm, then tried to stage a drive-by by firing rounds out a bedroom window. Warrants also accuse Erik of flushing shell casings and hiding the firearm in the dishwasher. Erik was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter and placed in juvenile custody; the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office later upgraded the charge to murder and moved the case into adult court. As of September 2024 he was held without bond at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Does anyone have information about Jaiden, the household, or the early-morning events on September 1 that could help investigators?
