Cameron Nathaniel Tyler was 16 when he was shot and killed in North Charleston, South Carolina. Known to some as 10 Cam, he had attended C.E. Williams Middle School and West Ashley High School. On the evening of Friday, August 16, 2024, officers responded to a call around 9:28 p.m.; people on scene led them to Cameron, who was lying on the ground and later pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound by Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal.
The North Charleston Police Department opened an immediate investigation and announced a swift arrest the next morning. On Saturday, August 17, a juvenile male was taken into custody; his name was not released because of his age. Police spokesperson Harve Jacobs said the youth had been charged with involuntary manslaughter and that the case remained under investigation. Cameron’s family organized a fundraiser to honor his memory.
If anyone knew Cameron or has information about what happened that night, please share tips with North Charleston police.
