Tobias Ezra Williams, 22, of Eastover, South Carolina, was killed on the night of May 1, 2024, after deputies responded about 9 p.m. to the 100 block of Cottage Court in the Lower Richland area. Deputies found Williams outside near a driveway with an apparent gunshot wound to the head; EMS continued life-saving efforts but he died of his injuries. The Richland County Coroner’s Office identified him as the victim.
Investigators initially released few details about what led to the shooting but said a dark-colored sedan was believed to be connected. Within days two men were arrested: Jaheim Clary, 19, was taken into custody May 1, and Zayquwan Taylor, 20, was arrested May 2. Both were charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Public reports did not specify who fired the fatal shot or a motive.
Funeral services included a public visitation May 7 at JP Holley Funeral Home’s Southeast Chapel and a Celebration of Life May 8 at Red Hill Baptist Church in Gadsden. Does anyone who was in the Lower Richland area that night have information about the dark-colored sedan or what happened on Cottage Court?
