Heriberto Martinez-Martinez was 37 and living in a mobile home on Stall Road in North Charleston when he was killed by a stray bullet while asleep on the night of April 25, 2024. Known by the nickname Bocho, he was found unresponsive in his bed after North Charleston officers, responding to nearby gunshots and an armed robbery at a neighboring residence, discovered a bullet hole in his wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation determined the wound was inflicted by a stray round.
Police recovered four 9 mm shell casings and quickly identified several suspects. Arrests followed: on April 29 two men, 22-year-old Kobe Javon Bryant and 19-year-old Triston Robertson, were taken into custody; on May 8 20-year-old Kristian Jaheem Bryant was arrested after a standoff; and on June 20 authorities arrested 18-year-old Jameson Zahhaeus Bryant in Greenville. Kobe Bryant, Triston Robertson and Kristian Bryant were charged with murder and armed robbery; Jameson Bryant was charged in connection with the fatal shooting. The case remained pending in Charleston County court.
The community has been left mourning a man killed inside his own home. If anyone knew Heriberto Martinez-Martinez, his routine, or saw suspicious activity in that neighborhood on April 25, please come forward with information.
