Brandon Gregory Cobbs Jr., 29, was shot and killed on the afternoon of Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Saint James at Goose Creek apartment complex on Channing Way in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Police were called after a man collapsed on a resident’s front porch with a gunshot wound to the head; Cobbs was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a father of two, Zayden and Harlym.

A 30-year-old, Davon Dwayne D’vor, was arrested and charged with Cobbs’s murder. Court records note D’vor had prior charges between 2018 and 2019 for weapons, burglary, drug offenses and an assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature; he pled guilty to attempted murder stemming from a May 2019 violent crime. Prosecutors sought eight years; the judge imposed four. D’vor began that sentence on September 14, 2022, and was released December 30, 2022.

Cobbs’s homegoing service was held February 21, 2024, at Faith In Action Christian Fellowship in North Charleston, and he was buried at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery. If anyone saw activity near Channing Way on February 9 or has information about what happened, please come forward.
