A late-winter shooting in 2023 left two men dead and a third wounded in a busy Bluffton shopping-center area. Police found 26-year-old Rasheen Dupont of Ridgeland fatally wounded in the shared parking lot shortly after 10:30 p.m. on a Friday night. Minutes later a 25-year-old man was located with injuries in a car near the Bluffton Parkway on-ramp to Fording Island Road and taken to a hospital in Savannah. Responders also found 18-year-old Omarion Garvin of St.

Helena lying in the road on Buckingham Plantation Drive; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said it was unclear whether the three knew one another and opened an investigation into the double homicide and related assault. No arrests or suspect identifications had been announced the day after the shootings.
