Demietrese Mack Evans, a 24-year-old man from Florence, was shot on Remount Road in Hanahan, South Carolina, on December 9, 2023 and died of his injuries at a local hospital the next day. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide attributed to at least one gunshot wound.

The Hanahan Police Department opened a homicide investigation, but publicly released few details about the circumstances or any possible motive. As of the latest update, no suspects or arrests have been identified in connection with Evans’s killing and the investigation is ongoing.
