Paul Shereshaw, a 42-year-old Caucasian man from Charlotte, North Carolina, was shot and killed in Sumter, South Carolina, on the evening of September 19, 2023. Police say the gunfire began around 10:45 p.m. on Brand Street; a deputy nearby found Shereshaw lying in the road with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital and died shortly after arrival. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the precise cause of death.

An unoccupied vehicle in the area was struck by gunfire.
