Calliou Frazier, a 21-year-old Black man, was killed on August 25, 2023, when gunfire shattered a late afternoon on Leslie Street in the Dorchester Village area of North Charleston. Police were called about 4:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired tied to what was initially described as a possible robbery and home invasion. When officers arrived, three people had been shot; two were dead and a third was wounded.
Investigators said there was no immediate evidence that anything had been taken from the home, and the case was treated as an active, unfolding investigation. Memorial listings later named Frazier among North Charleston’s victims of gun violence and identified another person killed in the same incident as Damoreion Tyshawn Smiley. If anyone has information about the shooting on Leslie Street or knew Calliou, please come forward with tips for investigators.
