Miqueas De Leon Lopez, 25, was shot to death on the evening of July 13, 2023, in North Charleston, South Carolina. He was driving with his brother and cousin when another vehicle followed them. As Lopez stopped near Fuller Street and Piedmont Avenue, a man with an AR-15 rifle approached the driver’s side. Lopez tried to accelerate away but was struck at point-blank range in the head; the car then crashed into a fence. Police found him deceased inside the vehicle and the Charleston County Coroner ruled the death a homicide.

City surveillance footage captured the attack and investigators later arrested Jaimen Tisdale and his partner, Mariah McAteer. Prosecutors said the couple had been targeting Hispanic contractors to rob them of recently cashed checks and that Tisdale and McAteer had two young children in the car during the incident. Tisdale was convicted and McAteer pleaded guilty; both received prison sentences in December 2023.

If anyone knew Miqueas, his movements that evening, or saw a vehicle following him near Fuller Street and Piedmont Avenue, please come forward with information.
