John David Leone, 52, of Maplewood, New Jersey, was found dead from gunshot wounds on Birch Creek Road in the Andrews area of South Carolina on January 28, 2023. His body was discovered alongside Kimberly Rowell, 30, of Conway, South Carolina, who had also been fatally shot.

Investigators linked the double homicide to a separate shooting that day on Acadian Lane in the Kingstree area, where two other people were found with gunshot wounds and taken to hospitals. The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, identified and arrested 36-year-old Lorenzo Cooper of Kingstree. He was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in connection with the incidents.
