Ryan Joseph Bukoskey, a 36-year-old man from Moncks Corner, South Carolina, was killed in a shooting outside Bar 52 at 207 Davishill Lane in the early morning hours of January 28, 2023. Deputies arrived shortly before 1:00 a.m. and found three people with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Bukoskey was pronounced dead at the scene; two other men, reported as 18 and 46 years old, were taken to a hospital with injuries including a leg wound and an apparent chest wound.

Investigators say the violence began after two or three men inside the bar began causing problems and were being escorted out. Bukoskey reportedly confronted the group, the dispute moved outside and turned physical, and one of the men allegedly produced a firearm and opened fire. Witnesses reported the suspects fled in a silver Ford F-150. The sheriff’s office and coroner opened a homicide investigation and were consulting the solicitor’s office about possible charges; in early February 2023 no arrests had been announced.

Bukoskey was born September 29, 1986, served in the U.S. Navy from 2008 to 2019, and was remembered as someone who enjoyed motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles. He is survived by his wife, Claire, his son Sylis, his parents Pete and Kathy Bukoskey, sisters and other family; his funeral was held February 4, 2023, in Summerville.
