On the night of October 30, 2024, 19-year-old Elysiah A. Lee-Jordan was shot and killed at Yorktown Square Apartments in the 200 block of Barham Boulevard in Yorktown, Virginia. Deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office found him with two gunshot wounds; he died at the scene. His 24-year-old sister, Dania Davis, suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. This was reported as Yorktown’s first homicide for the year.
Investigators identified and arrested two suspects in November. On November 7, 26-year-old Jafay Jabarre Moore of Newport News was arrested in Sumter, South Carolina, and charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and reckless handling of a firearm.
Lee-Jordan was a 2023 graduate of Lafayette High School, known as captain of the step team and a football player who wore number 18. Family and friends recall his infectious smile, love of 90s R&B and the Washington Commanders, and that he was a talented cook and joyful presence. If anyone who knew Elysiah or Dania has information about what happened that night, please come forward.
