A Tuesday morning shooting on July 23, 2024, left 33-year-old Trevor Lamar Hill dead on the front porch of a home in the 400 block of James Avenue in Waynesboro. Officers responding to a reported weapon discharge arrived at 9:02 a.m. and found Hill deceased; the cause of death was a fatal shooting.

Also at the scene was 23-year-old Jacob Preston Sipe, who suffered injuries and was taken to Augusta Health. After his release from the hospital, Sipe was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail and had a bond hearing in Waynesboro General District Court rescheduled for September 10. The investigation is active and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Did anyone in the area see or hear anything that morning on James Avenue that could help the investigation?
