Carlos Marcell Moore, 30, was fatally shot in the early morning of May 23, 2024, while sleeping in a vehicle in the 12000 block of Cadet Court in Manassas, Virginia. He and another occupant had been involved in a verbal altercation the night before; when multiple gunshots were fired into the car the next morning, Moore was struck and killed and the other person was unharmed.
Moore was a father of two and known locally as a talented tattoo artist, singer and rapper. Born June 28, 1993, in Prince William, Virginia, he graduated from Fairfax High School in 2011 and was remembered by acquaintances as kind-hearted, funny and skilled with mechanics.
Detectives later identified 26-year-old Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt of Manassas as the suspect. Investigators say Eberhardt removed evidence from the scene and a search of a storage unit he rented turned up two firearms not believed to be the homicide weapon. On June 12, 2024, Eberhardt was charged with murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence; he was already in custody on an unrelated matter and is being held without bond.
If anyone knew Carlos or has information about what happened that night, please come forward.
