On the evening of May 8, 2024, a dispute over a parking spot at the Kemper Street Apartments in Lynchburg, Virginia, escalated into a fatal shooting. Bolden Jared Eubanks, 23, was shot during the confrontation around 6:50 p.m. He was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital by private means and later died of his injuries.

Witnesses said a woman argued with Eubanks, went inside an apartment, returned with a firearm, and shot him. A memorial and vigil were held in the days after his death. Authorities identified and arrested 43-year-old Deshanta Olisha Marshall of Lynchburg and charged her with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felony child endangerment; she was held without bond at Blue Ridge Regional Jail. The investigation remained active and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August.
