A Tuesday afternoon outing at a Virginia Beach basketball court ended in tragedy for 16-year-old Jordan Williams, a Tallwood High School sophomore known for his ever-present smile and love of basketball. On May 7, 2024, officers found Williams near Bryce Lane with a gunshot wound; emergency responders were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Virginia Beach Police Department opened an investigation that produced a rapid development: within a week a 17-year-old male was taken into custody. Because he is a juvenile his name was not released. He was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The motive for the shooting remained unclear in the immediate aftermath.
If anyone saw what happened near Bryce Lane on May 7 or has information about the shooting, please share what is known with investigators.
