In the early morning hours of February 3, 2024, 30-year-old Chadrick Stephanos Fink, a Black/African American male, was found in the street in the 500 block of West Spiller Street in Wytheville, Virginia, with a fatal gunshot wound to his head. Police arrived at about 2:34 a.m.; Fink was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for autopsy.

Investigators developed a suspect from witness descriptions of a person and a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle at 395 East Jefferson Street and arrested 19-year-old Cameron Riley Kinder of Wytheville without incident; a firearm was recovered. Kinder was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and was being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.
