Egypt Zapporah Carter, 23, was found shot to death inside her car in Woodbridge, Virginia, in the early morning hours of February 2, 2024. The vehicle was on Bronson Court near Brickwood Drive; a small dog was found unharmed with her. Carter, a recent college graduate from Burlington, North Carolina, had been lured to the location under the false pretense of picking up prescription narcotics for her husband and was ambushed while still seated in the car.
Investigators say the killing was part of a murder-for-hire plot allegedly orchestrated from inside prison by Carter’s husband, 34-year-old Lionel Melvin Carter III, who was serving a sentence at Sussex State Prison for a 2014 murder. Friends and family reported Lionel had threatened Egypt after she expressed a desire to leave the relationship. Three other men were identified as involved in carrying out, being present for, or assisting with the killing: Grorethas Gresean McKinnon Jr., Denzel Scott Wade, and Drew Courtney Buchanan.
Does anyone have information about Egypt’s movements that night, or about associates who might help clarify how the plot was arranged?
