Patricia Kathleen Beglin, 51, was found fatally shot in the woods behind a business in Woodbridge, Virginia, on the morning of December 28, 2023. Responding officers discovered she had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators focused on an acquaintance, 37-year-old Karen Nicole Pollard, and say an argument over fentanyl pills escalated to the shooting. Warrants were issued charging Pollard with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A $5,000 reward was offered while authorities sought her.

About a month later Pollard was located and taken into custody in Prince George’s County, Maryland, then transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries from a separate incident. She is awaiting extradition to Virginia, and court records show prior charges including grand larceny and drug offenses.
