Deputies from the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office and officers from Victoria and Kenbridge responded to a shooting call shortly after 1:00 a.m.; Nicolson was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.

The Virginia State Police were called in to assist the local investigation.
