On the evening of May 1, 2023, six-year-old Kingston Kingster Campbell was shot and killed while playing video games in his bed at a home on Floyd Street in Lynchburg, Virginia. Surveillance footage released by police shows several people firing into the occupied house before fleeing; one of the bullets struck Kingston, who attended R.S. Payne Elementary School and was remembered by family for loving to dance, sing and for his favorite color, blue.

Investigators say the case has been hampered by a lack of witness cooperation and, more than a year after the killing, no arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced. Police have suggested a possible connection to the nearby, unsolved homicide of 16-year-old Terrion Marshall and think both deaths may relate to a dispute between rival groups; a reward fund has been established and community leaders continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.

If anyone knew Kingston, saw activity near Floyd Street that night, or has information linking these shootings, please contact the Lynchburg Police Department.
