Amonté Desour Walkup, 21, was shot dead in Virginia Beach in the early morning hours of April 7, 2023. The killing followed a dispute involving the ex-boyfriend of the woman Walkup was dating. That evening the ex-boyfriend confronted the woman about her new relationship and later repeatedly called and texted her with threats while she and Walkup were at a bar on Princess Anne Road.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m., as Walkup and the woman were leaving the bar’s parking lot in a vehicle, a man approached and fired multiple shots, striking Walkup in the head. An officer nearby heard three distinct gunshots; Walkup was found deceased in the vehicle and the woman escaped back into the bar. Surveillance footage showed a shooter in dark clothing firing what investigators described as a rifle, and the shooter fled the scene.

If anyone saw activity in the bar parking lot on Princess Anne Road that night or has information about the shooting, please share what is known.
