Sean Malik Russell Bowman was 28 when he was found dead inside an Arlington, Virginia apartment in the Buckingham neighborhood on North Thomas Street. A maintenance worker discovered his unresponsive body on the morning of March 28, 2023; emergency services pronounced him dead from upper body trauma. Police determined Bowman had been killed two nights earlier, during the early hours of March 25, when someone entered the unit while he slept.
Investigators say a known local drug dealer, identified as 40-year-old James Ray Williams, entered the apartment, searched Bowman’s pockets and accused him of stealing drugs. Witnesses reported Williams produced a firearm and shot Bowman twice, once in the cheek and once in the temple. Fingerprints, surveillance footage, DNA testing and witness interviews were cited in the investigation that led to Williams’s arrest on March 31.
Williams was charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and drug offenses. After a four-day trial in June 2024, an Arlington jury found him guilty of second-degree murder and the firearm charge; sentencing was set for August 22, 2024. Does anyone have information about Bowman’s life in Arlington or the Buckingham neighborhood that could add context to his death?
