A fatal shooting in a Manassas shopping center parking lot ended the life of 37-year-old Richard Del Cid of Woodbridge. The attack occurred shortly after 1:00 AM on March 20, 2023, in the Hoadly Market Place parking lot. Del Cid, also known as Ricardo, had arranged to meet a female acquaintance to exchange documents; the woman and the eventual shooter were known to each other and to Del Cid.

Surveillance video showed a man approach the passenger side of Del Cid’s vehicle and fire multiple rounds. Del Cid was found inside the car with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified 46-year-old Mauricio Antonio Mayorga as the suspect; he was already in custody on an unrelated outstanding warrant when investigators served him with murder warrants.
