Montavious Washington was 18 when he was fatally shot in downtown Atlanta on the evening of Monday, July 14, 2014. Police reports say the shooting followed an altercation on Broad Street; Washington was shot in the chest at about 10:45 p.m., ran a short distance, and collapsed on Trinity Avenue. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Atlanta Police responded that night, interviewed witnesses, and launched a homicide investigation; authorities were searching for a suspect or suspects and no immediate arrests were made.
