Lowinski Ames, 22, was found dead in a home on the 10600 block of St. Veronica Court in Saint Ann, Missouri. Authorities say Ames had moved back into the residence just days before he was shot in the back of the head with a .38-caliber revolver during the early morning hours. The person who reported the scene, 61-year-old Rebecca Ann McCullough, later confessed to the shooting and has been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, and tampering with evidence.
Investigators allege McCullough — who had an intermittent living arrangement with Ames and worked as a home health care aide for one of his relatives — had consumed a significant amount of vodka and argued with Ames before the killing. Police say she drove away after the shooting, discarded the gun about 1.3 miles away on Link Road, then returned and called 911 claiming she had found him; officers reported no signs of a struggle in the home. McCullough had a prior felony conviction for second-degree assault in 1987 and is being held on $500,000 bond.
Ames reportedly warned a friend that if he was found dead, his granny did it, reflecting a nickname he and McCullough sometimes used for one another. Does anyone have information about Ames’s movements in the days before he moved back into that house or about the relationship between him and McCullough?
