Maurell Lamont Thomas was 18 when he was fatally shot in Ferguson, Missouri, on February 29, 2024. Known to friends and family as 4 Luhm, he had attended McCluer High School and was saving about $7,000 to finance a music video for his creative work.

Authorities say the shooting involved an 18-year-old acquaintance whom Maurell considered a friend; investigators allege that the acquaintance shot Maurell to steal the money Maurell had set aside for the production. Ferguson police arrested the 18-year-old in connection with the homicide. The community held candlelight remembrances as family and neighbors mourned the loss.
