Shannon Babb-Mansfield, 45, was found dead in her Howardville, Missouri apartment on the evening of January 15, 2024. Deputies from the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department arrived about 5:43 p.m. and discovered that she had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Investigators located 45-year-old Shaundale T. Maxwell in a nearby apartment and recovered a weapon at that location. Maxwell was arrested at the scene and later charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action; he is being held in the Mississippi County Jail without bond pending further proceedings. The community has been left grieving a mother, daughter, and sister while the case moves forward.
