On January 8, 2024, officers in Saint Peters found 23-year-old Dalton Coleman dead inside a home in the 300 block of Willott Square Drive after a witness’s attorney alerted police. The body had been wrapped in a rolled-up air mattress with a garbage bag placed over the head and secured by an electrical cord. Investigators found dish soap and towels suggesting an attempt had been made to clean blood and other biological material.

Probable cause statements say 18-year-old Jackson Pierce admitted to firing multiple shots after an altercation; an autopsy showed Coleman suffered about 15 gunshot wounds to the abdomen, hand, and face. Pierce was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence, and abandonment of a corpse and held on $1 million cash bond. A juvenile who was at the scene was referred to family court. Coleman’s family said he had a young son and had recently moved into the residence.

If anyone knew Dalton Coleman or was in that neighborhood around January 8, what information could help investigators?
