Stephon Edgerton, 40, was shot dead after midnight on January 20, 2012, as he left WGOV radio in Valdosta, Georgia. An Army veteran and a popular evening DJ known as DJ Juan Gatti, Edgerton called 911 at 11:53 p.m. after being shot three times in the torso and head and told the dispatcher his attacker was a white male wearing a white skull cap or a ski mask. He was taken to South Georgia Medical Center and died about an hour later.
Investigators found a car had been parked near the station and drove off east on Highway 84, but Edgerton was not robbed and no motive has been established. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office later said a person considered a prime suspect was killed in a shootout a couple of years after the murder, but the case remains unsolved and no arrests have been made. Family members remember him as a devoted husband and father and continue to seek answers.
Did anyone in Valdosta know about unusual vehicles or people near the station that night?
