Corey Johnson, 25, of Buffalo was shot behind the Wine Cellar on North Main Street in Jamestown in the early morning hours of August 16, 2024 and died shortly after at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie. Police recovered a defaced 9mm semi-automatic handgun at the scene and obtained multiple surveillance videos and witness statements while the Chautauqua County Forensics Investigation Team processed the area.
Investigators initially treated the shooting as a targeted homicide and identified Jermaine Holloman as a person of interest, asking the public for help locating him. A later review by the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office found that Johnson produced a handgun and chased another person before a struggle in which Johnson was shot with his own weapon; the DA concluded the shooting was justified under New York’s self-defense law and declined to file charges.
Does anyone have information about Johnson’s activities that night or about witnesses who were near North Main Street behind the Wine Cellar on August 16, 2024?
