On the late afternoon of July 28, 2023, 16-year-old Pharrell Aguasvivas of the Bronx was found unconscious in a parking garage on Highland Avenue in Yonkers at about 6:30 PM. First responders discovered he had a gunshot wound to his upper left back; he was taken to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead.
Yonkers Police detectives from the Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit say a physical fight on the bottom floor of the garage involved Aguasvivas and two other teenagers. That confrontation escalated when one of the suspects fired a gun, striking Aguasvivas.
Investigators identified and arrested two Yonkers residents, ages 16 and 17. They were charged in Youth Part of Westchester County Court with second-degree murder, first- and second-degree robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and hindering prosecution; both were remanded without bail.
If anyone witnessed the altercation or has information about what happened in the garage, please come forward.
