On the afternoon of July 1, 2023, 25-year-old Moelique Anthony Dawson was found lying in a parking lot on Adams Avenue in Endicott, New York, after reports of gunshots. Emergency responders took Dawson to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, but he died a short time later from his injuries. The Endicott Police Department opened a homicide investigation.
Investigators identified a suspect and an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Nathaniel Williams Jr. of Endicott was issued on October 4, charging him with second-degree murder. On November 28, 2023, a U.S. Marshals regional fugitive task force located Williams at a Thorp Street residence in Binghamton. A Metro SWAT team executed a search warrant; nearby homes were evacuated and local schools were put on lockdown as a precaution. Williams was taken into custody without incident around 5:30 p.m. and arraigned, and is being held at the Broome County Jail. Investigators have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
If anyone saw activity in the Adams Avenue parking lot around 1:30 p.m. on July 1 or has information about Dawson or the events leading up to the shooting, please come forward.
