On the evening of September 20, 2024, gunfire in the 300 block of South McDaniels Street in Kinston, North Carolina, left 25-year-old Korie Williams dead. Officers arrived about 8:50 p.m. and found two people with gunshot wounds; Williams was transported toward UNC Lenoir Health Care and was pronounced deceased en route. An 18-year-old, Yameek Coward, was hospitalized and later transferred for further treatment.
Two other people were targeted in the same attack. Lyasia Lawson was treated and released from the hospital, and Deshakeen Turnage was present but not injured. Detectives obtained arrest warrants on September 23, 2024, for 21-year-old Bryson Bradley of Lenoir County on murder and attempted murder charges. On October 17, 2024, 18-year-old Savannah Locklear of Kinston was arrested and charged with murder and multiple counts including attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into occupied property.
Bradley was later located and arrested on March 4, 2026, and faced extradition back to North Carolina; indictments include first-degree murder and multiple counts of attempted murder and weapons offenses. Does anyone have information about Korie, the shooting that night, or what led up to it?
