On June 16, 2024, at about 6 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting at the Artisan at Biltmore Park apartments on Long Shoals Road in Arden, North Carolina. They found 49-year-old Terry Lee Landrum Sr. deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The Asheville Police Department identified the case as a homicide.

The investigation led to two arrests. Eighteen-year-old Knowledge Jamal Davis was charged with first-degree murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied property; authorities allege he fatally shot Landrum and then fled. Thirty-three-year-old Aria Shaquana Waters was charged with accessory after the fact; arrest warrants say she delayed reporting the shooting and tried to transfer registration of a vehicle stolen from the victim’s mother into her own name. Waters also faces charges of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trafficking in methamphetamine by possession.

Family members described Landrum as kind and close to his family and said they felt shock and betrayal, particularly toward Waters, with whom Landrum had a prior romantic relationship. The Asheville Police Department continues to investigate. If anyone has information about this case or the events leading up to the shooting, please share what you know.
