Nathan Jones, 54, of Pembroke was found dead inside a vehicle in Maxton, North Carolina, on June 2, 2024. Robeson County deputies say he died of a gunshot wound.

Investigators arrested 33-year-old Cedric Lee Locklear of Rowland the same day. Locklear was booked into the Robeson County Detention Center and faces first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The possession count stems from Locklear’s status as a convicted felon, which makes firearm possession illegal and is part of the charges against him.

The case remains under investigation and the community is mourning Jones’ loss. If anyone has information about Jones, the vehicle he was found in, or the events in Maxton on June 2, please come forward to investigators.
