Jade Marie Sales, 34, was shot multiple times and killed inside her Pineville Road home in Mocksville, North Carolina, on the afternoon of April 16, 2024. Colleagues described her as a realtor with a heart of gold and an infectious smile, and she is remembered as a devoted mother and friend.

At about 2:49 p.m. the Davie County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an 18-year-old woman inside the residence. Following the dispatcher’s instructions, she hid with a one-month-old infant until deputies arrived and secured the scene. Court documents say the 18-year-old, the couple’s daughter, witnessed her father assault her mother just before the shooting. Other children who lived in the home were at school and were safely picked up by school resource officers; the Department of Social Services helped place the children with family members.

Jade’s husband, Dennis Jerome Sales, fled the scene and was later located in Kingsport, Tennessee, after a high-speed pursuit. Authorities said both Jade and Dennis had appeared in Yadkin County court earlier that day on unrelated narcotics charges; officials described the killing as occurring in the heat of the moment. A grand jury later indicted Dennis Sales on first-degree murder charges.

Did anyone in the area know Jade, her family, or have information about what happened that afternoon?
