Tammy Lynn Hodges, 53, was shot and killed at her Pilot Mountain home in Stokes County, North Carolina, on the evening of February 7, 2024. Deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting at a residence on Knobview Lane around 8:30 p.m.; Hodges was found with a gunshot wound and died at the scene despite emergency treatment.
Investigators quickly focused on Hodges’s husband, Sammy Roland Collins, who was arrested at the residence and charged with murder. The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence later listed Collins, age 68, as the alleged perpetrator and classified the killing as involving spouses. Authorities said the motive remained unknown and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was asked to assist. No additional suspect was identified in initial reports.
Hodges was born May 2, 1970, and lived in Pilot Mountain. She worked at Advance Auto in Dobson and was training to become a general manager. She left behind children Brandy and Brad Hodges, grandchildren, her sister Lisa Bustle, and two dogs, Evie and Lilly; visitation and funeral services were held in mid-February 2024.
Did anyone in the Pilot Mountain or Dobson area have information about Tammy’s last known movements or the night of February 7, 2024?
