On October 18, 2023, 27-year-old Jaliek Pridgen was found dead in Kinston, North Carolina, after what investigators describe as a suspected home invasion. Officers assisting the NC Division of Adult Corrections found evidence of a shooting at Pridgen’s Dupree Street residence and located his body across the street with multiple gunshot wounds.

Three people were arrested on October 19, 2023: 22-year-old Donteon Foye and 26-year-old Tyreke Moore of Kinston, and 23-year-old Rahmel Gray of Pink Hill. Charges include conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit armed robbery; Foye is also charged with first-degree murder. Authorities say the suspects planned home invasion-style robberies in Kinston and Lenoir County. Gray briefly attempted to escape custody during his arrest but was recaptured.

All three are being held in the Lenoir County Jail under secured bonds and police expect further arrests and charges as the probe continues. A Celebration of Life for Pridgen was held October 30, 2023, with burial at Southview Cemetery.
