On September 14, 2023, a burgundy Nissan Armada was found in a field near 1631 Main Street in Lillington, North Carolina, with two occupants dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office says the victims were 30-year-old Deshawn Rico Martin of Angier and 34-year-old Rodriguez Antonio McNeill of Bunnlevel. Witnesses reported hearing a rapid series of gunshots and one resident’s surveillance camera recorded about eight to ten shots followed by the crash.
Investigators describe the attack as appearing targeted but have not released information about suspects or motives, and no arrests have been announced. The scene’s proximity to Campbell University prompted officials there to tell students the campus was not under specific threat while urging vigilance. A funeral service for Deshawn Martin was held in Angier.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office at 910-893-9111 or the tip line at 910-893-0300. Did anyone in the area see or hear anything that night?
